Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Spatial Front.
Software Developer
My interview process started in August 2024 with a Google Meet call with the Project Manager and the Tech Lead (though their video was off). This was followed by an offer letter in September 2024, which I accepted, but it was conditional on obtaining a Federal Security Clearance, a process that typically takes 4-6 weeks. However, all communication with the Federal agencies (FMCSA and FBIS) had to go through Spatial Front. I never received any indication that my Security Clearance was progressing, and the Federal agencies themselves stated they had received no paperwork on my behalf. This felt like a major red flag and possibly indicative of fraud, so I refused to complete the Personal Identity Verification, which the Project Manager was supposed to guide me through. Because of these suspicious procedural issues, I declined the employment offer.
- Can you explain the distinction between Git FETCH and PULL?
Senior Software Engineer
Had an initial chat with the recruiter. Then had a first round with a business analyst and a developer over Google Meet, which included standard questions and a coding exercise. The second interview was supposed to be with two project managers over Google Meet, but they didn't show up. I had to contact the recruiter. One of them joined 15 minutes late for the 30-minute call and spoke with me for about 10 minutes before leaving. Didn't hear anything else before getting a rejection email a week later.
- Would you be comfortable keeping your camera on during our daily stand-up meetings?
Software Developer
Had a technical and behavioral video call. The technical interviewer was super nice and asked me some questions about concepts and data structures for the languages I mentioned. I also did some coding in my preferred language using an online IDE.
- Can you tell us about yourself?
- What is a Promise?
- Explain state and APIs.
