First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Sparxoo.

The initial interview was a quick video chat with the CEO due to COVID. He asked about my writing background, creative methods, and typical project turnaround times. After our chat, I sent a thank-you note and offered further assistance. He replied later that day asking for a writing sample, providing two blog topics with keywords and search volume, and leaving the choice of topic to me. Since it was Friday night and I have another job, I wanted to consider the sample carefully. On Monday afternoon, I followed up to ask about a deadline for the sample, as none was given. Hours later, after business hours, he responded saying he'd already received samples from others and I didn't need to submit one. This felt unprofessional and unrealistic. I felt I was more than a 'junior' copywriter, given my 9 years of experience, and would have done a great job. Looking at other reviews for Sparxoo, it seems I might have avoided a negative experience. Their unprofessional responses to reviews suggest a lack of courtesy and awareness.
- What's your usual blog post writing time?
- Can you describe your writing background?
- How do you approach your creative process?

The interview was fine, asked relevant questions and the people were very nice. The only gripe I had was that I was told there'd be 3 or so interviewers which is not a problem except that they all came into the room at different points and proceeded to ask the same questions. So, I ended up answering the same series of questions 3 times which, after over an hour of questions, was draining and for some, I had to repeat answers which felt strange. My advice would be to schedule the time out before you start the interview and do all three at once.
- What is your spirit animal?
- What do you think of our website?

First there's an over the phone interview, then a personality questionnaire, then a stress test or prompt where you have only an hour to write and research a blog, and finally there's an in-person interview.
- Tell me about a time you disagreed creatively with a former manager.
