First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at SpartanNash.
Cashier
It happened in the cash office. The vibe was super chill, with just two interviewers. They threw a bunch of general questions at me, nothing too in-depth. It was just one interview, and it wrapped up in under 15 minutes. I got the job and they called me in for training pretty quickly, within the week.
- How would you handle a situation where you can't assist a customer?
- What makes you interested in working at this company?
- Do you have prior experience in a similar role?
Cashier
I applied online on their website and then went in person to talk to the manager. I mentioned I applied, and he said they were not busy and would be in touch. After a few weeks, he called offering an interview, which I accepted. A few days later, I went in, dressed in black pants and a black shirt to match the employee dress code, noticing they liked employees who were neat and tidy. The manager sat down with me and asked about my favorite high school class, my age, languages I speak, and my availability. I confirmed I was available, and he said he'd be in touch. A week later, he called to offer me the job.
- Can you tell me about your biggest weakness?
- Which class did you enjoy most in High School?
- What is your age?
Store Associate
I had a phone interview, but it didn't work out because I didn't state my exact available hours. I said I could work anytime, and that answer apparently wasn't right.
- Could you specify the times and days you are available to work, and please don't just say anytime?
- How did you come across this job opening?
- Were there any other roles you applied for?
