Heads up, when you apply to Sparrow’s main hospital in Lansing, they do group interviews but with a twist. You know, not only are 2 people often present, but when you apply for certain jobs on a specific unit, you often don’t even interview with that unit’s management and after the interview you then bid on a unit and hope they have the position on the unit you actually want.

The interview was mostly situational questions, but they weren't specific to any particular nursing specialty. The nurse manager was really nice. Some questions were a bit tricky, but they did a good job of screening for the critical thinking skills that are essential for nursing.

I applied to the nurse residency program, but the recruiter mentioned those spots were filled and they were hiring for future nursing positions. I submitted my application back in March and didn't hear anything until the end of April. Then, I was asked to complete a 60-question online personality assessment, where you indicate agreement levels. After that, I was invited for an interview with two nurse managers. The HR department seemed really nice and easy to talk to.
