I applied back in October, then did an online assessment. The actual interview was in November, and I got the job offer in December. The interview itself was about an hour and a half. They asked about customer service, teamwork, my skill level, and my past work history.

So basically, I had a phone screen interview with two engineers. They asked pretty standard stuff like 'What do you know about the company?' and 'Why do you want to work for us?' A week later, they called me again to set up another phone interview since I'm in Texas. This second one was pretty intense. The same two engineers hit me with a bunch of questions, like situational, behavioral, and technical ones. It was about 45 minutes long. The week after that, I got invited for an in-person interview in Vegas. They asked a few more questions, like 'Tell us about yourself' and 'Tell us about your leadership experience.' I also had to do a math/engineering test and write a letter about handling a conflict. They also gave me some background info on the company.

Behavioral Technical

I had an interview with two supervisors from neighboring districts. It was pretty informal and comfortable. They took notes on my answers and would score them after the interview. The hiring decision was based on those scores. They asked questions about the gas industry and situational questions relevant to the role, mostly about safety, fixing leaks, emergency scenarios, and customer service. I tried using the STAR method like I did in previous utility jobs, but it wasn't necessary.

Behavioral Technical Presentation Other

So, there was a phone screening first, then a phone interview with three employees. After that, we had an in-person interview with the same three people. The screening and the phone interview were pretty standard, asking about my experience and some behavioral stuff. The in-person was a panel with the three of them. They asked me more than 20 questions, I had to do a presentation, and there was a written assignment. The questions were mostly behavioral, and they wanted really specific examples that were tough to recall on the spot, often focusing on the same character traits. The written assignment had confusing directions and no context for the scenario. The presentation topic was also vague and unprofessional, and I had to really think to come up with something.
