Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Southwest Airlines.
Senior Financial Analyst
Applied in early April and got the first call in June. It started with a phone interview, then a panel interview the following week. They did a background check before the interviews. The questions were related to the job. It took about four weeks after that to hear back that I didn't get the position. Overall, it was a positive environment.
- What is your motivation for seeking employment at Southwest?
- Can you describe a situation where you had to handle a hypothetical scenario?
Financial Analyst
The interview process involved two rounds. The first was an HR call where we discussed the job and my past achievements, roles, and responsibilities. We also covered how I manage work schedules, the areas I've worked on, reporting procedures, meeting deadlines, my approach to finance, treasury management, and golden rules/applications.
- What's your usual scope of work?
- Can you explain what a Balance Sheet is?
- Tell me about your job description.
Financial Analyst
The interview process was very comfortable and laid back. It started with a 20-minute phone interview, and then a few weeks later I flew out for an in-person interview. They made me feel calm and confident throughout the process. It was mostly behavioral questions with one technical question.
- Can you tell me why you're interested in Southwest?
- Could you share some of your experiences with teamwork?
- Tell me about your experiences with leadership.
