First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Southland Industries.
Business Development
3 rounds of interviews, spaced out roughly 10 days apart. First was with my direct manager and the subsequent two consisted of 15-20minute blocks with 3 individuals each time. The first panel interview was with senior peers followed by the division leader. The next was with operations and engineering (teams that would be closely intertwined in this role).
- Can you tell me why you are interested in working for our company?
Software Engineer
It was a 5 stage interview process. First, a talent acquisition interview with pretty general questions about my experience. Second, I met with a team member in the position I was applying for. This seemed like a feel-out for my current position and how much my experience transfers to the applied role. Third, there was an in-person meeting at headquarters where I met the team and spoke with the president, senior engineers, and an equivalent engineer. This was a 3 hour process with 45 min meetings and 15 min breaks. I didn't get the offer, but the team was great to meet and seemed to have a good culture.
- What do you hope to get out of working with Southland?
Building Automation Engineer
The screening process was smooth and I had an enjoyable experience. They have a great benefits package and it sounds like they have a good work culture. They mentioned that new employees are mentored until they feel ready to be independent, and there's good career progression within the company.
- Can you describe your relevant experiences for this role?
Accounts Payable Specialist
It was a long and tough process. They had me do several interviews, some on Zoom and some in person. The interviews were often late, changed around, or canceled. The managers were nice, but every interview was separate and they all asked me the same things. They did offer me the job, but a week after I accepted, they still hadn't sent an offer letter. When I asked about it, they changed the terms of the job and offered me less than we first talked about.
- What makes you passionate about accounting?
