A recruiter from an outsourced talent acquisition firm reached out to me on LinkedIn about a Senior Financial Analyst role. I felt I was way overqualified for it, as I haven't been an analyst in almost twenty years and have been in VP/CFO level roles for startups for the last seven years. I briefly interacted with the recruiter on LinkedIn to see if they had reviewed my background before sending a generic job description. The recruiter was not forthcoming about salary and remote/hybrid work, which was a brief and frustrating exchange, almost like talking to AI. It seems like the recruiters are just trying to farm resumes to meet quotas, which is a bad look for the company and is typical for lazy recruiters lacking critical thinking.

Confirmed questions3 questions
  • Can you tell me the compensation and if the role is remote or hybrid?
  • Are you open to a hybrid role where you'd be working onsite in Rosemead, California twice a week?
  • If you are willing to accommodate a hybrid role, please send your email so I can provide the full job description, salary, and next steps.

The interview process started with a quick phone screen by an SCE recruiter. The following week, I had a group/panel interview with the project manager (who is the hiring manager) and another manager. They asked me STAR/TASK questions and also asked me to define some financial terms. Two days later, I received a call for a second interview with the VP of the department and the hiring managers. In this second interview, they only asked general questions about my career goals and potential start date. I got the offer two days after that.
