First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Southern California Edison.

I applied online and had to do a personality and skills assessment. Then HR reached out for a virtual interview. The interviewers were casual in hoodies and t-shirts, but HR had sent me an email saying to dress business professional. It was weird to be dressed up and see them not. They seemed like they were just going through the motions with 7 questions. The person who would be my supervisor seemed disengaged and nonchalant. The panel also lacked diversity, which made me feel like a token hire. So, I'm not impressed with SCE. HR did mention good benefits and competitive pay, but my gut feeling about the interview process told me it's not a good fit. The HR recruiter was helpful, though. I also read about issues with abusive management at SCE, so I'd rather look elsewhere.
- Can you discuss your background and experience?
- What are your contributions to inclusion and diversity?
- Share a time when paying attention to detail was crucial.

The interview process was pretty standard for a leadership role, mainly focused on generic behavioral questions. They wanted to hear about real job experiences, specifically focusing on your leadership, analytical skills, challenges you've faced and resolved, and any innovative solutions you've implemented.
- Can you share an instance where you had a disagreement with your manager and how you handled it?
- Could you tell me about a time when you had to manage several deadlines simultaneously?
Senior Advisor
The talent acquisition process at SCE seems a bit off. I previously interviewed for a senior advisor role at SCE, and I ended up taking a job elsewhere and gained more experience and management experience. Then, they posted the same role again in a different location. After I applied this time, SCE talent acquisition emailed me saying, 'After evaluating your application for this position, we have determined that your skillsets and work experience, although impressive, do not meet the minimum qualifications.' It's strange because I qualified to interview before with less experience. It felt like a waste of time to even apply. I've heard from others that knowing someone internally at SCE can help. Maybe it really depends on who is reviewing applications because it's not consistent at all that I qualified one time and then didn't the next, especially after gaining more experience and management experience.
- Can you share an instance where you successfully navigated a difficult situation?
- Describe a project experience where you had to work with a challenging team member.
- How do you approach prioritizing tasks when you have several urgent ones?
