I was contacted for this job about two months ago and had a quick phone interview. I didn't expect much since it had been so long, but then they called back and scheduled an in-person interview for the very next day. When I arrived, I noticed people dressed in a variety of outfits, from shorts to suits, even though the dress code supposedly doesn't allow tennis shoes. The interview took place in their main office building and also in the cafeteria. It was a very brief interview, and it seemed like they weren't entirely sure what they were looking for. They only interviewed me because I had specific keywords on my resume, but I got the impression they didn't fully grasp what those keywords meant. The manager, who has been with the company for over 10 years, mentioned that many resumes are too long and lack sufficient depth.

Behavioral Technical Case

First I had a 30 minute phone screen with the recruiter, where we talked about my resume and why I'm looking to leave my current job. Then the recruiter explained the interview process and what to expect for the next round. After that, I had a 1-hour, 3-person panel interview with the hiring manager, Sr. PM, and PM. They asked 7 questions from a list. The questions were pretty straightforward, but they wanted specific examples from my past work. The next step involved a case study where I had to analyze some data and then recommend how to proceed. Some key data was intentionally left out, and the main goal was to see my problem-solving approach and how I present my findings during a 30-minute meeting with the same panel.

Behavioral Technical

Interviews are usually panel interviews with 3 people. They use the STAR method and it can feel intimidating since the panel might be writing notes and not actively listening. Sometimes the questions are too repetitive, so you need to have lots of examples and be very prepared. Some roles require a pre-test, which can be hard. The Excel test is easy if you actually use Excel, otherwise, you should take a class.

Confirmed questions2 questions
  • Can you tell me about a project you were involved in, specifically focusing on a time you dealt with conflict? What actions did you take to resolve it, and what was the result?
  • Walk me through a project you worked on, detailing how you managed a conflict situation, the steps you took to overcome it, and the ultimate outcome.
