Account Representative
I was really impressed when I first walked into the office for my interview. The area in Nashville is nice, and their office space is professional and well-decorated. Shania was very nice and easy to talk to, making me feel comfortable before I went in. However, when I went in for my interview, I was put off by what the job actually involves and the management style it seems to be under. The supervisor I interviewed with asked about other companies I'd interviewed with and spent more time bad-mouthing them and their methods than explaining what makes South different and successful. When I mentioned wanting to work with something I'm passionate about, he said, "passion doesn't pay the bills." This was very discouraging and made me think the work environment might not be very welcoming or exciting. I do have to give them credit for being upfront about their training process, which is very fast-paced once you're hired, and their second interview, which is a 7-hour job shadow. You'd go door-to-door with another employee to observe their sales techniques and for them to get to know you and see if you're a good fit. That part really gives you a clear idea of the day-to-day tasks, and I realized it wasn't what I was looking for. The best advice I could give is that honesty is good, but sometimes being too blunt can be a turn-off for applicants. The company is doing well in many areas; it just wasn't the right fit for me!

Account Manager
The initial interview, a phone screen with Alexandra Pierce, was very pleasant and welcoming. She was super helpful answering questions about the company and gave details about the interview process. I was expecting to interview with Hannah Hoffman, but met someone else for the first interview. The office itself has a high-energy, high-tech vibe, with great amenities showing they care about client and employee comfort. Besides the receptionist, who was really friendly and great to talk to, and the interviewer, there was no one else around, which I think shows how much the management is involved in the market. The interview was pretty quick; they just briefly looked over my resume and then it was an open Q&A where they asked about me and my work history, and I could ask about the company. Some of their answers felt rehearsed, just reciting company facts and stats without really addressing the questions personally. When asked about door-to-door sales, they gave a generic answer like, "If you're hard-working, you'll succeed." After looking at online reviews and considering the interview answers, I decided not to move forward to the second interview (a shadowing opportunity). The commission-based pay doesn't fit my family's financial needs, and I felt the role was below my skill level based on my resume. I'd recommend South, Inc. as an employer if the pay structure and work are a good fit for you. Their management team is young, energetic, and seems like a great group to work with. If they offered a role that matched my project/program management, leadership, and sales/marketing experience, I'd definitely take it. The work environment and manager attitudes are exactly what you'd want in a potential employer, and I'd recommend them to recent grads or young people looking to get into sales. The only reasons I'm not accepting are the junior position and the potentially inconsistent compensation.

Management Trainee
They are looking for dedicated and hardworking individuals. The process starts with a 15-minute initial interview to get acquainted, where they gauge your enthusiasm and ask basic questions like "Are you a hard worker?" and "How would your friends describe you?". This is followed by a 7+ hour job shadow where you learn the business, which involves door-to-door sales. This is a key aspect that often surprises candidates. The final interview occurs right after the job shadow, where you present your assessment of the day and explain why you believe you'd be a good fit. The company culture and colleagues are great, but the door-to-door nature of the sales is a common deterrent. However, this isn't permanent; hard work can lead to opening your own office. This particular role wasn't for me due to the door-to-door aspect, which I feel should be more clearly advertised upfront.

Management Trainee
Started with a phone call to schedule the interview. Then I had an initial interview in person. After that, I got a call asking me to come back for a full day job shadow. I spent the whole day shadowing someone and we had a really great time! It was shocking how much fun they had every day. Following the job shadow, I was offered the job. I started and found out it was even better once I got into the office in the morning. The environment was super upbeat with loud music playing.
