Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Sourcegraph.
Product Manager
The interview process dragged on for over a month, and I even spoke with the CEO multiple times. While two recruiters from Sourcegraph were coordinating things, they eventually stopped responding to emails. It was a significant time commitment for everyone involved. It's strange they'd invest so much time and then not follow up. Honestly, it feels like a lucky escape given what others have said; they seem quite unprofessional and have ghosted other candidates.
- Can you tell me about a project you worked on previously?
Product Manager
So after a recruiter reached out and I got put forward, I had a 45 min chat with the hiring manager. They told me about the job, asked me stuff about my own goals and what I'm looking for, and then I got to ask them questions. It felt like a really good match and was a fun, interesting conversation! Then, I had 4 more awesome calls with 7 other people in total. We talked about the company culture, my experience, some tough problems, and if I'd fit in. Everyone at Sourcegraph was great about making sure I could ask my questions too! They totally convinced me about the amazing Sourcegraph culture!
- Tell me about challenges you've faced in your previous roles.
- Describe the focus of your past work.
- How do your personal values align with the company's culture?
Product Manager
I found the job opening on Hacker News and applied. About a week later, I heard back. The initial conversation involved some basic questions about my experience. I was informed of a potential follow-up within a few days, but after that, I never received any further communication.
- Could you share some details about your professional history?
