First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Sourcegraph.
Customer Engineer
It started with a discovery call, then 3 interviews. The first one was a general chat to get to know each other and see if my skills fit since I hadn't worked with their type of platform before. The second was more technical, covering languages, infrastructure, and the Sourcegraph platform itself; I did some DevOps research to prep for this. Both these interviews were with the hiring manager. Then I spoke with the regional sales manager about how I'd work with sales execs and my thoughts on the sales process, plus past engagements. The final stage was a role-play discovery call with a prospect. I was given client background and challenges, and I had to ask questions to understand them and then pitch Sourcegraph. This required prep on client references and a basic demo. I also had an interview with a peer, which was good for understanding the day-to-day work at Sourcegraph.
- Can you tell me about the steps involved in a CI pipeline?
Customer Engineer
Sourcegraph is really open about their interview process, their handbook is public and the hiring team is super helpful and ready to answer questions. The flow is pretty typical: a phone screen, then a chat with the hiring manager, followed by a technical or take-home assessment, and finally a panel interview before an offer. I found it 'Difficult' because I felt I really had to prep to understand and demo their product, but everyone was so helpful it made me feel ready and good about it at each step. I've never been so sure about accepting an offer. It was the best interview experience I've had!
- How would you get ready for a demo with a potential customer?
- What's your approach when a customer wants to do something the product can't do yet?
