First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Sopra Steria.
Software Engineer
So, I was contacted by Sopra Steria out of the blue on LinkedIn at the end of January 2025 for a job. The whole thing dragged on for a month and a half, involving four interviews: first, an initial HR call, then another HR interview, followed by a technical interview with someone from the team, which I thought went well since I got a fourth interview. The last one was an in-person meeting with a Manager, which I had to travel to at my own expense. After the final interview on Monday, March 10th, I didn't hear anything for five days. The recruiter then emailed asking when we could chat live in the coming days. I replied the same day with my availability, but got no response. On Wednesday, March 12th, I texted to check if we were going to talk by phone. She replied asking for my name, even though she'd contacted me before via text. After I gave my name, she completely stopped communicating. I followed up by email on Thursday, March 13th, asking if she'd seen my message, but again, radio silence. Finally, on Tuesday, March 18th, I got a generic rejection email after 8 days of being ghosted, saying my technical maturity didn't match their expectations. I asked for more details, like specific skills to improve or if compensation played a role, but haven't heard back since.

The first part was an online assessment with two main sections: a technical objective test and an aptitude round. The technical part was pretty straightforward if you know the basics like databases, OOP, and coding syntax in any language. The aptitude part, however, was really time-consuming and needed a lot of focus. It involved solving 11 flowcharts within 90 minutes. With good concentration, you could finish them in about an hour. After passing both tests, I got selected for the interview round at Sopra Steria.
- Tell me about your resume.
- Can you elaborate on your resume details?

The hiring process here has 3 main parts: First, an HR interview to see if you fit the company personally and behaviorally. They'll talk about the company and the job, ask about your background, why you want the job, your values, and what you expect. They'll also chat about your soft skills like communication and teamwork. Then, there's a technical interview to check your skills with the tools and tech needed. This involves practical tests related to the job, questions on your technical knowledge or past experience, and solving problems or case studies. Lastly, an interview with the Agency Director to check things at a strategic level. You'll discuss your long-term career goals, if you align with the company's vision, and your ability to take on responsibility or initiative. A general tip is to research the company before each step and have concrete examples ready.
- Can you introduce yourself, briefly outlining your academic and professional journey and highlighting experiences relevant to the role?
- What are your motivations for this position, and why are you interested in this role and the company?
- Tell me about your short-term and long-term professional goals.
