First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Sopra Steria.
Java Developer
This was easily the most unpleasant interview that I've had so far in my 9 year career. They asked me only entirely theoretical questions and expected me to answer exactly like it was defined in wikipedia word by word. I felt like I was back at university. I have never been asked only theoretical questions for such a senior position. I did not have the chance to talk about my experience and practical skills.
- Define SOLID and then define each principle
- Name 5 design patterns and explain each one.
Java Developer
The interview process was very long, with initial meetings and calls from November 2024 until the final technical interview in February 2025. The talent acquisition and employer branding manager (the longer the title, the more you should be wary and not go along with them) even called and messaged me on my mobile multiple times at all hours, but after the time they indicated (and beyond), I heard nothing more. When I tried to reach out, I received no response. To be clear, I wasn't expecting an offer, even a NO would have been fine, perhaps with the reasons why, but instead, there was deafening silence. I don't recommend investing your time with them because you'll just waste it.
- Tell me about a technical experience you had in detail.
Java Developer
I first connected with an HR person on LinkedIn who asked me to send my resume to a specific email. A couple of weeks later, someone else reached out on LinkedIn and got my contact info. Later that day, they called me to chat about the open jobs. After that talk, we set a date for a French interview with the same person. During the interview, right before the French test ended, they told me I passed that part and we scheduled a technical test. On the day, I got a Java test with theory questions on language concepts and had to code three algorithms. I sent my answers and solutions back.
- In the French interview, tell me about your hobbies.
- Tell me about a book you have read lately.
- Write an algorithm that checks if an integer is even or odd.
