Technical Support Engineer
The interview process was smooth, consisting of three rounds: an aptitude test, a technical interview, and a final managerial interview. It was a good experience overall. You should have a good understanding of basic technical terms.
- Can you describe your previous work experiences?
- Can you explain some fundamental technical terms?
Technical Support Engineer
So I had 2 technical interviews, and each had two interviewers, and they all asked the same stuff. The interviewers had a super condescending vibe, like they automatically assumed you didn't know anything instead of you just not over-explaining something obvious. Like, when I was asked about using Wireshark, they got nitpicky, expecting me to say SOURCE and DESTINATION IPs instead of just saying you can see the IP addresses in the packets.
- What steps and tools would you use to troubleshoot a customer's device that's experiencing a slowdown?
- Describe your process for troubleshooting a customer device slowdown, including the tools and steps involved.
Technical Support Engineer
It started with a recruiter call, then an in-person assessment at their office. After that, a phone interview with the hiring manager and team lead, where they discussed my background and technical skills. This was followed by a face-to-face interview, over an hour long, with about 40 minutes for personality/behavioral assessment and 20-25 minutes for a technical test. The manager wasn't present for this part. Then I had to provide two references, preferably previous managers, and my ex-managers had to complete a survey. Once I cleared the behavioral and technical parts, the recruiter said the Manager wanted to chat. In that final discussion, they went over my past experience again and asked more behavioral questions, basically repeating what was asked before. They focused a lot on team integration, even asking a weird question about adjusting to a team with many female colleagues. Honestly, it felt like a waste of time, especially the behavioral part done by people who aren't technical. The manager in the final interview seemed unprofessional, and the gender question confirmed it. When I asked about career growth, he seemed uncomfortable, suggesting there isn't any. Four days later, I was told I wasn't selected because they found someone who would integrate better, despite liking my skills. It's like they didn't know what they were looking for until the very end.
- Tell me about your background and past work experience.
- What are your technical skills?
- Can you answer some basic questions about IP networking?
