I was approached from the CV pool. I received a call and had a phone interview. After that, I was invited for two different onsite interviews. In the first one, I was asked competency-based questions. In the second one, I had interviews for analytical thinking and role-based questions.

Sony was looking for new grads and advertised on university sites. I applied after seeing an ad. They picked me based on my resume and cover letter. I had a panel interview where they asked about my qualifications, education, and my good and bad points. They also asked some technical stuff.

Behavioral Technical

I saw the job ad on a recruitment site posted by a headhunter, but it didn't name the company. The experience required matched my background, so I applied. About a week later, the headhunter contacted me for an interview. The first interview was with a senior PM, and it was pretty straightforward. The interviewer explained their work and the type of person they're looking for, asking questions like 'do you have relevant experience with....' I answered directly with examples, and the interviewer seemed pleased. They wanted to schedule a second interview immediately, but due to work, I had to postpone it for about 10 days. During the second interview, I met with one person who was more technical. I felt this interview went very well, and they said my profile stood out. I thought I had the job, but five days after the second interview and an email to the headhunter, I was told I didn't get it because my personality didn't match. I found this reason unconvincing, especially after all the positive feedback. I think my answer to the future career plan question might have been the issue. I said I wanted to gain experience and move to a senior PM role in 2-3 years, then an executive producer role in 5 years. The interviewer mentioned that internal promotion might be slow due to the corporate structure and asked if I'd have a problem staying as a PM for a year without a promotion, to which I said no. I also had another interview with SCEE for a different department around the same time. Their process was similar, and I felt I communicated well about the role and my abilities, but they took about 2 months to get back to me, only to say the role was filled internally. I understand large corporations have their processes, but recruitment should be more efficient with communication. My conclusion is that companies like this don't have a clear idea of who they're looking for, despite what they say, and they can be very slow to respond, wasting your time.
