Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Sony.
Assistant Manager
Initial contact with HR and a recruiter/assistant. Then, an interview with the director and a performance test on their proprietary software. Salary and benefits were not disclosed. The work location, with the possibility of being remote, was also still to be determined.
- Can you tell me about your experience in this field?
Lab Manager
The interview process was standard, nothing out of the ordinary. It was virtual, with multiple rounds of interviews. They asked in-depth technical questions. It was thorough, insightful, efficient, effervescent, profound, and intelligent. Unfortunately, I wasn't offered the job, which was disappointing.
- Can you tell me about your five-year career plan?
Management Trainee
The interview process can change a lot depending on the company, industry, and the specific job you are looking for. But, there are some usual steps you might see: First, you'll usually submit your application online through the company's website or a job site. This means uploading your resume, cover letter, and sometimes other papers like a portfolio or references. After they look at applications, many companies do an initial screening to sort through candidates. This could be a quick phone call or video chat with a recruiter or HR person to talk about your skills, experience, and if you are interested in the job. If you pass the first screening, you'll probably get invited for one or more interviews. These can be in person, over the phone, or through video. The first interviews usually check your skills, experience, and if you'd fit into the company culture. There might also be a technical or skills assessment.
- Tell me five things about yourself.
