Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Sony Pictures Entertainment.
Intern
I applied and heard back about 2-3 weeks later for an initial HR interview. Then, about a week after that, I had an interview with the hiring manager. It's been almost two months since that, and still no word from HR. I'm guessing it's a rejection. It's pretty wild that a company this big can't even give candidates an update. Especially annoying after talking to the hiring manager.
- What are some of your favorite directors and films?
Intern
The interview process involved an initial phone screening with HR that lasted about 20 minutes and covered general questions about my background and availability. This was followed by a final round with the hiring manager, where we discussed the role and my qualifications in more detail. Finally, I received an offer call to confirm my interest in the position.
- Could you introduce yourself and explain your motivation for applying to this role?
Intern
The interview process for this intern role involved two phone rounds. They like to ask about relevant courses you've taken and your general film knowledge. This might be tricky if you're not a film major, but you can easily adapt by checking out the American Film Institute's list of best movies.
- Tell me about courses you've taken that are relevant to this role.
- What's your background in film?
- How familiar are you with films?
