Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Sony Pictures Entertainment.
Director
It was pretty straightforward. I had a chat with someone from HR first, and then I met with the team members who would be my colleagues.
- What's prompting your desire to leave your current role?
Director
The interview experience was quite unusual because I was interviewed by employees instead of the head of the department. While that might have been acceptable if I had met the department head first, it felt uncomfortable for an initial interview. After that, I wasn't interested anymore, and I regretted not being more discerning when I learned this would be the format the day before.
- Have you ever had to fire someone?
- What makes you a suitable boss for our team?
Director
The HR person seemed to not know much about the job requirements, basically just reading from a script. There was a group interview with the team, and they seemed to know the work well. The process was really slow, taking weeks. I had to chase them for a few days before getting callbacks.
- Regarding the job description, did you perform this task?
- Can you explain how you accomplished this task?
