First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Sony Music Entertainment.
Intern
The first part of the process was a HireVue recording. You can redo your answers as many times as you want for each question, and the question appears on the screen. It mostly asks personal questions about what internship area you're interested in and why you're passionate about the music industry and Sony.
- What current music industry trend are you interested in?
Intern
I recently went through the Hirevue interview process, and I found it to be a rather straightforward experience. The platform presented me with a series of questions that I felt were fairly easy to tackle, which helped to ease my nerves as I recorded my responses. It was a unique setup where I could think through my answers before presenting them on camera. After I submitted my interview, I entered a period of anticipation, wondering how long it would take to hear back. It turned out to be about a month before I received any feedback or information regarding the next steps in the hiring process.
- Can you tell me about your current favorite songs?
Intern
First, you have to fill out an application and submit a video cover letter. If that goes well, you'll have a video interview with 6 questions. Then, if you pass that, you'll be invited to an Assessment Centre which is about 5 hours long. During the AC, there will be interviews for 30 minutes, group tasks for 30 minutes, and the rest of the time is for informal chats and a 30-minute solo lunch break. Everyone's pretty nice there. They don't give specific feedback after the AC though.
- Could you explain your motivation for applying to this particular position?
- What draws you to Sony Music as a company?
- How would your skills and attributes contribute to this role?
