Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Sony Music Entertainment.
Director
The interview was stressful but felt fair. The HR staff were really talented and asked the right questions to find the best people. The whole team was smart and knew their stuff. They were fair, communicative, and direct throughout.
- What would you change about our company?
Director
I had a recruiter chat who said she'd forwarded my resume to the hiring manager and they were interested. They wanted me to interview the next day, which is unrealistic given I have a job. The recruiter said she'd get back to me with other options. I got an email with potential times, I responded, but never heard back, even after following up twice. I've never had this happen before and was surprised, especially from a recruiter with 15+ years of experience. I get that things change, but at least communicate. A simple email takes a minute, but no response is unprofessional and tells me a lot about the culture.
- What makes you interested in Sony?
Director
Good experience with SONY. Recruiter was great. Hiring manager was good too. They use video interviews, video calls, and in-person interviews. I liked the process. Communication was good. They focus on finding the best fit. I would interview with them again!
- Can you introduce yourself and explain your motivations for being here?
