I went through four interview rounds with SonicWall. The first three, including the hiring manager, were good and I got positive feedback. They mostly talked about C programming, networking, and OS concepts, and the process felt fair and technical up to that point. But the fourth round with the VP was a letdown. Right from the start, the VP seemed dismissive even though I answered networking questions right. It felt like my answers were challenged to undermine me instead of checking my knowledge. They also asked if I was married and said that since I'm single, I should have more time to learn. This felt unrelated and inappropriate. Since I passed the earlier rounds with good feedback, the last round's tone was unexpected and made me uncomfortable. It seems the interview process isn't consistent at the leadership level. Interviews should stay professional, focused on the job, and respectful.

There was a recruiter screening call, then an interview with the hiring manager, and then an interview with another manager. It felt like a junior role and I might have been overqualified, but I lacked specific security experience, so I saw it as a learning opportunity, though the pay wasn't great. The last interviewer was really condescending and kept cutting me off, telling me I was wrong. I mentioned networking wasn't my strong suit, even though I'd worked with it a lot, and they told me never to say that. I got the vibe I wouldn't get the job after that. I really clicked with the hiring manager and thought it was a good match, but I guess not.

The technical round covered a lot of networking topics like IP addresses, classes, DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP routing and switching, VPNs, and fundamental networking concepts. They also gave me a scenario question about setting up a network, including IP, default gateway, and DNS.

The interview process included an initial screening covering FTP, DNS, and DHCP protocols, along with basic network security theory. The onsite interview involved discussions on Firewalls, WAFs, some basic coding questions, and OOPS concepts. There were also questions based on my resume. I got a callback quickly, within a day. The interviewers were nice and respectful.
