Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at SOLUTE.
Software Engineer
Had a recruiter call first, pretty standard stuff. Then a live coding session with the recruiter and another team member. It was a pretty standard coding question involving a loop. The next round was with a Senior Engineer, but he seemed rushed and kept cutting me off or expecting instant answers. I checked Glassdoor and saw similar negative reviews and CEO responses. They made an offer, but when I asked about the engineer's behavior, the offer was rescinded the following week.
- Tell me about your background.
- Can you tell me about your experience with our tech stack?
- We're going to do a live coding session.
Software Engineer
First, I had a phone interview where we talked about my resume and the company. About a week later, there was a technical phone screen where I coded two problems in a shared online space with a software engineer. The next step was an in-person interview in San Diego with three software engineers. We chatted about my background, what I'm looking for salary-wise, and why I want to work there. Then, I had to solve three problems on a whiteboard. Kind of a weird moment, one of the interviewers just left the room mid-interview.
- Questions about Data structures and algorithms
- Tell me about your resume
- What are your salary expectations?
Software Engineer
It was a standard engineering interview with reviews of my past experiences. We talked about the technical side of my background and specific questions about my Android development experience. They also asked about how I've handled various situations in my career.
- Could you explain the Android lifecycle for an Activity?
