First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at SolarWinds.
Marketing Specialist
3 calls - 1 quick by phone from HR willing to know more about my background. 2 technical interview with the manager to get experience check and 3 would be challenge. Found the process very nice and quick, would expect a better feedback though, as it was very generic.
- Could you explain your motivation for wanting to join SolarWinds?
- How do you go about adapting content for different channels?
Marketing Specialist
Recruiter reached out about a contract to hire role. First was a phone screen with the hiring manager. Then, I was invited for an in-person interview. It was a long day with three 30-minute interviews back-to-back with the manager, director, and VP. I've never had an interview like that before. Remember to bring water and snacks. They had one more interview, just between the two of us. I didn't get an offer. Quick note: The hiring manager talked a lot about the company and her career path during the phone interview. It was hard to get a word in. From what I've read, other interviews seem to be similar.
- Can you describe the color [insert color] and teach me something new about it in 5 minutes?
- What is your understanding of SolarWinds?
- How do you define and measure "success"?
Marketing Specialist
Before you decide, check out the Glassdoor reviews and trust your gut feelings about this company. I had four interviews with four different people. They were all super friendly and gave me good info about the company and my role. They asked a few technical questions, but mostly we just chatted about my experience. But, there were a couple of red flags. First, they offered me the job without checking my references. Second, they took back the offer because they couldn't offer flexible hours, even though they'd said they were flexible. Third, when they offered me the job, I had some questions for HR, so I emailed them. They called me instead, saying it would be 'easier to call rather than to type it all out,' which was kinda weird. So yeah, maybe it's a good place to work, maybe not. This was just my experience, so listen to your intuition.
- Of the work you do, what do you like the least?
- Of the work you do, what do you like the most?
