Sales Representative
A recruiter reached out after finding my resume online. I had an initial phone chat, followed by an online assessment to gauge my suitability for a sales role based on personality. After that, I connected with a different recruiter for an in-person interview. The interview started 30 minutes late. Two people interviewed me and asked direct, almost rude questions. It felt like they were testing my toughness. They interrupted me a lot while I was answering. I was told I'd hear back from the recruiter either way.
- Can you share the highest amount of money you've earned?
- How do you deal with criticism?
- What's your take on hard work?
Sales Representative
I applied online for the Outside Sales Rep role. After about 5 days, the recruiter from HQ in CA called me. The recruiter call lasted 30 mins, she asked lots of questions about my personality and sales experience. I felt I answered well and remembered to ask for the job. She said she'd pass my resume to the local sales manager. The next day, the local sales manager called to set up another phone interview, but when the time came, he was too busy and wanted to go straight to a personal interview with his regional manager. I met them the following week at a local office. The interview went well, they were polite and asked lots of sales scenario questions like 'describe your clientele and how you overcame objections'. The only tricky part was a role play where I had to sell Solar to both of them. You really need to study their website because you'll be selling them on their company and why you're the best rep for the job. I found out this job requires at least one weekend day, maybe two. The only support is a 2-hour Monday morning meeting, otherwise you're on your own. At the end, I felt I only had a 30% chance because I didn't have solar sales experience and might have messed up the role play. About 3 days later, the recruiter emailed to say I didn't get the job.

Sales Representative
I was contacted by a recruiter. We had 2 phone calls and then one in-person meeting. The interviews were pretty chill. It seemed like they were confident in my skills but wanted to check if my values and personality aligned with their company culture.
- What makes renewable energy significant to you?
- Can you describe your daily planning routine?
- What makes you a strong candidate for Solar City?
