Behavioral Presentation

I interviewed with three regional sales managers first, then I had a chat with a director. They all asked good questions, not too hard, you just gotta have some confidence and charm. Basically, they want to know you're motivated by money and helping the planet. Showing excitement about the product and asking about what makes other reps successful, or what to avoid, is key. Be charismatic and enthusiastic.

Behavioral Other

First I had a phone screen with the recruiter, then a phone interview with the hiring manager, and finally a Skype interview with some other managers and a manager. The first call was basically them trying to sell Solarcity to me. They seemed to really want to hire me based on my resume, or at least get me to talk to the hiring manager. The interviews with management were really casual. They asked personal questions, asked about my accomplishments, and a lot about why I wanted to work in solar and for Solarcity. There were a few role playing questions too. Mostly, I think they were just trying to figure out my personality and what motivates me to make a decision.

Behavioral Technical Other

The interview process was pretty straightforward. First, there was a phone screening with someone from recruitment where they ask basic, standard questions. If you pass this, you get a personality test and a computer skills test. Knowing basic computer functions is recommended; I've met people whose family members took the computer test for them, but they struggled at the job. After passing the first round, you're usually scheduled to meet with management. Typically, 2 to 4 people from management will ask more specific questions about solar, SolarCity, and your sales experience. Management then decides if you move up to outside sales or a lead generating position. It's recommended to aim for outside sales, as people often get stuck in lead generation without promotion.
