The interview process was thorough and spanned multiple stages. Throughout the entire process, the assigned talent lead maintained consistent communication, providing updates on each interview's outcome and outlining the subsequent steps. I felt valued and acknowledged during this experience, which has been a rarity in the IT industry. They posed in-depth questions directly related to my work and how I could contribute to their strategy and goals. Importantly, the process did not feel excessively long.

I first met the recruiter at a career fair. Even though I didn't have experience in healthcare, software, or tech, I did have sales and marketing experience. The recruiter was really nice and we had a good chat. A few months passed, and then I got an email asking if I was still looking for a job. The first interview was with the recruiter and a potential manager. We talked about industry knowledge and sales and marketing tactics. It was a very relaxed and good conversation. The second interview involved two other managers. We discussed sales and marketing tactics, along with industry knowledge. I got to learn more about the company and the industry, and we had a great back-and-forth discussion. The third interview was with the CEO. We went over my background and some standard interview questions, but it was more philosophical and deep. I could tell he was an intellectual who cared about the people he interviewed and that I would be part of a team, not just another employee.

Behavioral Technical

The interview process at this company was quite concerning, and frankly, it was a relief to be rejected given the numerous red flags. They repeatedly emphasized the need for overtime, but without a clear justification beyond what seemed like poor management and a lack of planning. It felt like Project Managers were constantly scrambling to get 'urgent' tasks done by developers and QA, often dictated by upper management's whims. For a 20-year-old company, their operations felt very much like a startup. The office itself was in a hallway at Stony Brook, with open-plan rooms containing desks and computers, lacking any private cubicles. Management needs to focus on establishing a solid project plan and vision, and utilizing Agile frameworks effectively, rather than just hiring more PMs. Agile is about flexibility, but progress is impossible when priorities shift daily.

After applying, I got a call for a quick phone pre-screening. About a week later, and a few days after the call, I interviewed in person with three people. The interview was about an hour and included an explanation of the job and a deep dive into my background and soft skills. It was a good vibe, felt comfortable and genuine. After, I did a Predictive Index (personality test). Nearly two months later, I got an email saying I didn't get the job because my qualifications weren't a fit for their current needs. I appreciated the clear communication, unlike other places that just go silent. Given how well I was treated, it was a positive experience overall. It's always good practice for interviews, and I believe in handling challenges with the right attitude.
