Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Softchoice.
Sales
I initially thought the company was very upfront because after a phone call where we chatted about my background, they immediately set up a video meeting with a manager. During the interview, the manager barely looked at the camera, making it hard to tell if he was uninterested or just multitasking. He was practically facing sideways. After that, I had to follow up to find out that the hiring for the role was paused. It felt like a waste of time, and I don't think they handled the process very respectfully.
- What is your motivation for seeking employment at Softchoice?
Sales
There were two initial calls, followed by an in-person interview with a team of 2 or 3 people. They reviewed my resume and had me do a mock cold call during the hour-long session. Unfortunately, I didn't get the job because they apparently knew a former coworker from high school and let their past opinion influence their decision rather than my current qualifications. It's a shame because I've recently exceeded my sales targets and brought in over $80k in ARR. Thank you for the rejection! Heads up to management: hire based on performance and current experience, not based on what your old friends think.
- What makes you want to work in sales?
Sales Representative
Had a couple of phone interviews where they wanted to know about my sales experience and general interest in the role. Then there was an in-person interview. I spoke with the hiring manager and team lead, who are mostly manager-facing. Depending on the territory, I might have had to interview with different regions. Seems like they hire a lot because there's a lot of turnover.
