Senior Software Engineer
Started with an HR screen, just standard questions. Then the Hiring Manager reviewed my resume and gave a small coding exercise. After that, there were two technical rounds with senior/staff engineers, focusing on a coding exercise and system design. The final round was with a Senior PM/VP.
- Could you design a Recommendation Engine considering factors like top K items, my search history, and recommending based on other users with similar interests and watch history?
Software Engineer
They took 1 month to schedule 4 interviews (3 tech + 1 hr) back to back for their software engineer role. The HR person told me each of the four rounds will focus on different aspects and you can take my word for it. You can guess that never happened. The worst round was the HR one. I have never meet any interviewer who boasts about their years of work experience, I have no clue how that is relevant to the job opening. The HR interviewer used every chance to say that they has 10+ years of experience in the HR industry. Overall, I feel that the HR interviewer was playing games with me. To top this all, the HR interviewer had no courtesy to turn on their camera. When asked, they refused to do. I have never seen a company with more RED FLAGS.
- Find the subarray with at least sum equal to k.
Senior Software Engineer
So it began with a recruiter call, and they seemed to like my background. Then, I had a chat with the hiring manager, which went super well. The recruiter even told me he was impressed. After that, there was a technical interview, also good, and I got to move on to the virtual onsite. The onsite had 4 people interviewing me across design, behavioral, and technical aspects. Things were looking great, I was pretty sure I'd get an offer. But then, out of nowhere, I got a rejection email with a generic message. I tried asking for feedback, but crickets. Like, why is it so hard to give feedback? It only takes a few minutes. It's wild because when things go well, they're happy to tell you the manager was impressed, but when it's a no, they just disappear.
