Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Socure.
Data Scientist
The initial recruiter call went well. I was informed the first technical interview would cover Python and SQL, and the requirements were clear. However, during the actual interview, the interviewer unexpectedly started testing me on PySpark, which wasn't communicated beforehand. This lack of clear communication was frustrating and felt unprofessional. Prior to the interview, I received an NDA and a link to company resources stating that Socure would reply within 72 hours post-interviews. This did not happen. I followed up with the recruiter multiple times but received no response. I was essentially ghosted. Overall, the process lacked transparency and follow-through. It's disappointing because they talk about strong candidate communication but don't deliver. I wouldn't recommend spending your time here unless they improve their candidate experience.
- Could you introduce yourself?
Data Scientist
They have a standard four-round interview process. First, an initial HR call where they'll explain the whole process. Then, a technical interview with a Leetcode medium problem, Pyspark questions, and SQL queries. After that, you'll interview with the Hiring Manager to talk about your background and fit for the role. Finally, an assessment round where you get a dataset similar to real fraud data to analyze, build a model, justify your metrics, and present your findings to a panel including the Hiring Manager, VP, and Senior Data Lead.
- What skills do you have and what can you contribute to the company?
Data Scientist
I got an email asking about my availability. After a lot of back and forth, I finally got an interview scheduled for the next day. I tried to ask about the interview format, but didn't get a response. On the day of the interview, it started with introductions and then went into technical questions. It was pretty frustrating.
- Can you introduce yourself from a technical standpoint?
- Can you write a SQL query?
- Can you write another SQL query?
