First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Snell & Wilmer.
Paralegal Assistant
They set up a virtual interview since I was an out-of-state applicant. It was known that I was out-of-state because they asked me questions about it. The next day I was told they were looking for someone in the area, and the assumption was that I was a local candidate, despite them asking questions about it during the interview. They might waste your time.
- Are you looking to relocate?
Counsel
We had several interviews with different partners from the Phoenix home office, all related to our practice background. The process concluded with meetings with executive committee members where we discussed our practice background, potential clients, and salary expectations.
- Can you describe your experience?
- What is your background in this practice area?
- What clients might you pursue?
File Clerk
The first interview was with the HR director, who conducted a relaxed, personal interview to understand me better. Then, I was given a written test for vocabulary, spelling, and proofreading, which took about 20-30 minutes. I advanced to the second round, a panel interview with some of the secretaries I would work with. I didn't get an offer because they thought I was overqualified and would get bored, but it worked out because they offered me a better-paying job they felt was a better fit.
- Tell me about what excites you each morning.
- Given your medical and fitness background, why are you interested in law?
- How do you see yourself adapting to a new field?
Summer Associate
I had 7 Zoom interviews total, with 2 interviewers in each. They were really nice and seemed more focused on getting to know me as a person rather than diving deep into my work experience. They asked about my hobbies, if I'm into community service, what sports I'm involved in, and generally just wanted to see if I'm an interesting person.
- Were there any questions that were specific to your resume, particularly about your interests rather than your work history?
