This was a remote role. I had a phone screen with a company recruiter/HR. She was very friendly and helpful. They decided to pass on me. I felt like the interview was a bit stiff and had a lot of "personality test" questions. It didn't feel much like a conversation, which I prefer, but that's just me and doesn't necessarily reflect poorly on the company. It was an okay experience, and I feel pretty neutral about it.

First, there was an initial phone screen with the HR Manager, but it got postponed from the original date for some reason. They gave me some background info about the company and the role and let me ask questions. I thought the conversation was a bit rigid and hard to connect with the HR Manager, but it was pretty standard. Then, they asked me to provide a writing sample highlighting a feature/request. I thought this was a bit much since I already sent extra materials with my application, but I did it anyway. It seems like this might be different for each candidate, but I had to come up with requirements for a feature request. Lastly, I had a one-hour Zoom interview with the Hiring Manager where we discussed the role and they asked standard questions about my experience. I was a bit annoyed that my work sample wasn't even brought up, which I expected. It was a pretty standard interview process though. In the end, I wasn't selected to move on to the final rounds with the engineering team and CEO, or so I was told. I didn't get any specific feedback on why, but that's okay. I was definitely impressed with how quickly they got back to me.

Technical Coding

I initially submitted my resume at a career fair and had a brief chat with them. They emailed me a couple weeks later to schedule a phone interview. The first phone interview involved a couple of technical questions. A week later, they requested a follow-up interview where they gave me three more challenging technical questions. They seemed like a good company, but after the last interview, they promised to let me know their decision the following week, and I haven't heard anything. This is quite disappointing; they should be upfront with candidates.

After I submitted my resume, I got an email within 24 hours from the sales manager. The initial phone interview covered my previous work history, their job description, and expectations. Next, there was a face-to-face (or skype) interview with 4-5 people from different departments, including the CEO. A week passed between the phone interview and receiving an email about moving to the next level. The decision was made 2 weeks after the face-to-face interviews.
