First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Snøhetta.
Graduate of Architecture
Had 2 rounds of interviews. The first was more informal and personal, focusing on culture fit and interpersonal skills. The second round was more skills and experience focused, testing for unique skills, experiences, and projects, alongside a clear understanding of tools and workflows.
- What are your career aspirations and why are you interested in Snohetta?
- Can you describe your design process?
- What has been your experience collaborating with consultants and other landscape disciplines?
Designer
This interview process felt like a complete waste of time given the extremely low salary offered. The skills test was unreasonably difficult and seemed designed for failure. The entire process dragged on for 4 months, involving 5 separate meetings with different teams. It also included a 2-hour skills test. I spent over 15 hours, both at their offices and in my life, only to be informed the role was under review and ultimately, no one was hired.
- Can you describe your approach to time management?
- How do you handle your workload?
- How do you approach developing and managing your skills?
Intern
It started with a short self-introduction, then I presented some of my individual work, which could be from school or other relevant projects. After that, there were a few questions and answers. The whole thing was about 30 minutes long and took place online in a friendly atmosphere. I expect to hear back within a few days.
- Can you share your professional experience as a designer, including any school work or related projects you've done?
Architect
I had an online interview with 3 directors. I introduced my work and they asked some general questions about my work. I also had some questions about the firm and the position. They don't have any coordination office. The Shenzhen and Hongkong offices work closely. They are not only doing Chinese projects. This position is potentially a project lead for large scale Chinese projects.
- What are your career aspirations?
