Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Smurfit Kappa.
Intern
First, send in your CV and cover letter. I'll be the one getting them via email. Then there's a phone interview with some situational questions. They can be tough, so try to stay calm and don't write down too much. After that, a face-to-face interview, which was pretty chill and a good experience. The interviewer made it feel relaxed. Finally, a two-day assessment centre. There's a dinner and hotel stay on the first evening. The next day is a full day of tasks and interviews.
- Can you share an instance when you faced a tough decision?
Intern
Met with the interviewer at a pre-arranged location. He was very nice and the whole process was relaxed and rather informal. I was nervous initially but for a few minutes before beginning the interview we had a regular chat which calmed my nerves and made the rest of the process easier. Interview was half in length.
- Can you describe your methods for staying organized?
Intern
The selection process involved a test and an essay, but they didn't get back to me afterwards. I only found out because I called them, and even then it was hard to speak with the person in charge of the selection, who seemed to be avoiding contact.
