First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Smokey Bones Bar and Fire Grill.
Bartender
The interview was pretty chill, just be yourself. They didn't really hit with any tough questions. There was just one interview, though I've heard some people have a second round. Then there's one day of onboarding, followed by about 3 to 4 days of training.
- Can you share an instance where you exceeded expectations to help a customer?
Cooker
It was good, they were super nice and I didn't feel neglected. They were good people and it was super nice. Super nice people and didn't feel neglected. Great people and I didn't have to really say much, they knew I was cook.
- Were you a chef?
Server
So, applying at Smokey Bones was pretty straightforward and chill, which made me even more keen to join. I sent in my application online and got a callback in a few days to set up an in-person chat. The manager was super welcoming when I got there, and it felt more like just talking than a formal interview. We talked about my past work, how I deal with stress, and what kind of workplace suits me best. I liked that they focused on personality and fitting in just as much as job skills. There were a few hypothetical questions too, like dealing with a grumpy customer or managing a lot of tables at the same time, but it wasn't scary. The atmosphere felt relaxed but serious, and they stressed how important teamwork and good communication are. After that first meeting, they followed up quickly to meet another person on the team for the last talk. That second chat was more about the practical stuff—my availability, training times, and what happens when I start. By the end of that week, they called to offer me the job. I'm really excited about the vibe there—it's busy but fun, and the team seems really supportive. Plus, the food smells incredible. 🔥
- What would you do if a customer wasn't satisfied with their meal?
- Can you describe how you manage situations where a patron is displeased with their food?
General Manager
It was several interviews starting with the HR manager. Then I talked with two GMs in the region. After that, I interviewed with the Director of the region. Finally, I met with the President and CEO. After I got the offer and accepted, there was a 6 week training class at a training store out of state.
