It took some effort to even get an interview the first time I applied; I had to find someone at the company on LinkedIn and ask them for a recommendation. Once I got that, there were 3 rounds of interviews for the position.

I applied online for the Marketing Coordinator job at SmithBucklin. A recruiter from HR called me for some initial questions and then scheduled a phone interview. In that interview, the recruiter asked about my background, why I was interested in SmithBucklin, and what I knew about the company. She then scheduled an in-person interview and sent me some tests and paperwork, which I completed and returned the same day. For the in-person interview, I checked in with HR and was taken to a room. An HR person asked me general questions about my experience, interest in the job, and knowledge of SmithBucklin. She also introduced me to the three marketing managers I'd be meeting and offered to copy my resume for them. I met with each of the three managers individually for about 30 minutes. They each had different specialties and asked different questions about my background. I felt comfortable talking with them and asked questions to learn more about the department and expectations. After the interviews, the HR person escorted me out and answered my final questions. I sent thank-you emails that afternoon to everyone I met. Two days later, the recruiter called with a job offer of $43,000. I countered, asking for $3,000 more for moving expenses since I lived four hours away. SmithBucklin offered $46,000 without moving expenses, which I accepted. After signing, an HR representative contacted me for paperwork, and they ran a background and credit check, as the offer was contingent on these. Once the checks were cleared, my start date and orientation were scheduled for two weeks later. The whole process took about 5 weeks from application to scheduling my first day.

Behavioral Technical Presentation

The interview process was pretty straightforward and professional. They gave out good info at the start and then got into the role details. It felt like a good mix of checking my technical and soft skills, plus seeing if my personality fit.
