First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Smith Micro.
QA Engineer
I had a phone interview with the Director of Engineering and the hiring manager. About a week later, they invited me for an in-person interview with the same managers. During that visit, I met the rest of the team and got a tour of the office.
- Tell me about your previous QA internship.
- What value would you bring to the team if hired?
QA Engineer
I had a phone call, then a technical interview with 2 people, followed by a group interview with 4 people. They asked me about manual testing, mobile testing, toaster test cases, SDLC, Agile, project management, SQL queries, Linux commands, all types of testings like black box, white box, smoke, sanity, regression, monkey, exploratory, database testing, and some behavioral questions. They also asked about QA, SQL, and LINUX.
- Could you provide test cases for a toaster?
- Could you provide test cases for an input string?
QA Manager
After submitting my resume, I got a call from the hiring manager for about 15 minutes. Then, I was asked to come in for an in-person interview. That meeting lasted 3 hours and involved the hiring manager, a PM, and two other staff members. We talked about the company's product lines and culture.
