Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at SMBC Capital Markets.
Intern
I applied and passed the initial screening. Then I had a 30-minute in-person interview with a director and an AVP. It was pretty laid back and mostly behavioral questions, with a bit of technical stuff related to my CV, like equity analysis and competitor comparisons.
- Could you please walk me through your resume?
Intern
First, there were 5 Hirevue questions. If I got accepted from that, I had a superday interview. The Hirevue questions gave me 3 attempts for each question and I had unlimited time to think about them. The superday interview was 30 minutes and behavioral.
- Could you explain your motivation for applying to this role?
- Is there anything about yourself that isn't mentioned on your resume that you'd like to share?
- What specifically interests you about SMBC?
Technology Intern
I applied for this position because I met the qualifications. Then I received the Pre-Recorded Video Interview, which I needed to submit within 5 days. After submitting it, I had to wait two months for a response, only to find out I was declined.
- What interesting facts about yourself can you share that are not listed on your resume?
