Had a call with HR, then a call with the hiring manager. Was asked to prep a go-to-market slide deck and present it on-site. The meeting included the hiring manager and their superior. Got a verbal offer with emphasis on urgency, and they even asked for references to expedite. However, they became unresponsive afterwards, not replying to calls or explaining their decision after the verbal offer. This resulted in a very poor experience.

If your resume gets selected, the interview process is pretty straightforward, usually involving about 2 rounds. If you pass those, there's a final HR round for salary negotiation. The whole process typically takes about 15-20 days from start to getting the offer letter.

So there were three rounds in total. First was a telephonic round because I'm in Pune. They asked basic questions about automation testing, my approach, and to write a program to count character repetitions in a string. Then, I went for a Face-to-Face in their Mumbai office. This part had two parts: a technical round where they grilled me on my skills and what they needed for Automation Testing. After theory, I had to write some basic Selenium and Cucumber code. Then, they asked tons of questions about that code, like if it would compile, what exceptions could pop up, and how to handle them, focusing on coding standards. They also asked about my strategy for building a test suite and a full framework. A logic question about a factorial program was also thrown in. They also explained that Smart Stream is a product-based company and how they operate. I felt good about clearing this part. The final round was with the QA Lead/VP, which was the real challenge. It was a mix of managerial and technical stuff. Questions included why I wanted to switch, my knowledge of the company, explaining my past projects, and my expectations. This is where we had some disagreements because my views didn't align with his. Then he dug deep into domain knowledge, which is my weak area, and he mentioned that SS needs strong domain knowledge. Finally, I had to write a program to list all files in given directories, which I managed. I'm unsure if I'll get an offer letter because of my weaker domain knowledge, but the key takeaway for SS interviews is to really nail the domain knowledge beforehand. Thanks.

I sent my application via a job portal. The HR team was very nice and helpful. Before the interview, I had to complete a questionnaire. They inquired about my personal and professional background, and asked about my knowledge of basic concepts related to capital markets and fund accounting, as well as general questions about financial markets. The interviewers seemed clear in their communication. (I declined further steps because there was no onsite interview.)
