Customer Success Manager
First there was a recruiter screen, then I talked to the hiring manager, and then there were 3 team interviews that were 30 minutes each. I didn't make it past this part. The process felt really smooth and the team said they enjoyed chatting and gave me pointers for the next round. I felt super comfortable and was surprised when the recruiter went silent until I reached out, and then they told me they had already offered the job to someone else who was further along. It's a bummer they don't finish interviewing active candidates before making decisions.

Customer Success Manager
The interview process started with a recruiter screening, followed by an interview with the hiring manager. The final stage was a 30/60/90 day presentation to the hiring manager and directors. I made it clear from the first interview that my management experience was in Technical Support and Customer Service, not Customer Success. Despite this, I proceeded through three rounds focused on managing customer success teams, which felt quite awkward. They ultimately decided I wasn't a good fit, but I suspect they knew from the start they wanted someone with specific experience managing a Customer Success team.
- Can you describe your approach to managing risk?
- Could you provide an instance where you coached a Customer Success Manager to enhance their performance?
- What is your strategy for developing your team members?
Customer Success Manager
My friend told me about Smartsheet and I got referred. First, I talked to a recruiter. Then, I had a video call with the hiring manager. After that, they had me create a Smartsheet solution for a customer scenario. The final stage was a trip to the Bellevue HQ for a bunch of interviews, including a mini whiteboard session where I had to show how I'd build a solution for a customer. The whole thing was super thorough and they kept me in the loop the entire time. It was a really good experience!
- What's your approach to solving this customer's problem?
- How do you handle your time management?
- What's your strategy for prioritizing your customer accounts?
