First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at SmarterTravel.
Analyst
A recruiter hit me up on LinkedIn to set up a quick phone screen. Someone else got in touch within 2 days to schedule a second call. The second call was a bit longer and included a brainteaser at the end. The final round was an on-site interview with two brainteaser interviews and then a deep dive into my resume. I met the Director of Analytics and some analysts. They provided lunch, and the recruiter prepped me before I arrived. It was mutually decided that I wasn't the best fit, but I enjoyed my time with the team. They seem like smart people passionate about the company.
- Can you walk me through an analytical project you worked on?
Analyst
The hiring process had a few phone screens and then in-person interviews. First phone screen was with HR to check my background. Then I talked to an analyst, learned more about the role, and got a brainteaser question. At the first in-person interview, I met with several groups. First group: resume and past experience deep dive. Then, met 3 analysts for another brainteaser and to discuss the role. Second in-person: met with the director of analytics who gave me another brainteaser and discussed my background more. Both in-person interviews ended with casual chats with other employees. After the second in-person, I never heard back about feedback, even after emailing them multiple times.
- On a scale of 1 to 10, how would your past employers score you?
Analyst
The HR contacted me and was really unprofessional throughout the whole process. He scheduled a time with me but didn't call. I asked him if there was anything going wrong and if he wanted to reschedule. He didn't respond for 2 weeks. I sent another email to see if he needed to reschedule, and he said yes. During the interview, he was super impolite and tried to talk as fast as he could to end the interview. He basically went straight to asking me to introduce myself, my academic background, and what weaknesses I have, then asked if I had any questions and ended the conversation. He didn't introduce himself or the company at all. He was super mean and dishonored, not on time, and not professional at all. If everyone in this company is like him, this unprofessional, I strongly encourage this company to have higher standards for their HRs.
- What are your working weaknesses?
