HR reached out to me. I did one on-site interview which consisted of coding and system design questions with a senior engineer, followed up by behavioral questions from another tech lead. This whole thing lasted 2 hours.

Behavioral Technical Case

I went through 4 lengthy interview rounds. They eventually said they needed to pause hiring to sort out internal processes, which is a weak reason. I later found out, unsurprisingly, they were still actively trying to fill the position. It was a bummer because I had great chats with the team, but it seemed like they wanted to get things sorted after splitting from TripAdvisor and being inactive for so long.

First there was a phone call with a recruiter to go over my background, my interest in Hopjump, and they asked a quick math question. Then I had a phone call with two people from the Analytics team. They asked me about a project I had worked on and gave me a brainteaser. The next interviews were three zoom interviews all on the same day. Two of them were similar to the second round where they asked about a project and then gave me a problem/brainteaser. The other interview was a deep dive into parts of my resume. They asked about mistakes I had made, what I was most proud of in my positions, and about my manager at each position, including how I felt they would evaluate me. I felt that last interview was the hardest part. I would definitely thoroughly review everything on your resume before the interview, and come up with things you are proud of for each position as well as mistakes you made/weaknesses you had, but probably mistakes/weaknesses that you can show growth or some positive improvement from.

Behavioral Technical Case

I had a recruiter phone screen, then another call with someone from the analytics team. They asked pretty much the same questions and gave me two brainteaser/case problems which weren't too tough. I liked having those two calls because there isn't a lot of info out there on Hopjump, so it was good to be able to ask a few people questions before the onsite. The onsite was only two hours and involved "technical" whiteboard problems, I assume to test analytical thinking. The interviewers were cool and helped me work through the problems. I also got some questions about projects I've done before, which the recruiter told me to prep for. All in all, it was tough, and I didn't move on.
