I applied online and got an email from a recruiter to set up a 1:1 virtual interview. After the interview, they said I made it to the next round. But then, two weeks later, I got an email saying they weren't aligned. It felt like a total waste of time and they lied to me. Definitely don't waste your time here.

The interview process at Slice started off well, with likable people and impressive engineers. However, it became disorganized after the final interviews. I received a verbal offer, then was moved to a more senior role, then back to the original manager role, only to be told the hiring was paused. This whole thing took about 2.5 months from applying to the final update. The final interview felt like a formality before they told me the job wasn't available. Compensation talks were unclear, and long silences made it stressful, especially after a layoff. While everyone was nice, the experience felt chaotic and disappointing, even cruel. I hope this isn't typical for Slice, but I can't recommend the process.

Behavioral Presentation

It was a long and drawn-out process, felt subjective and biased. I made it to the final interview where I created a presentation for a team I had already met with. This took several weeks to get to. The assignment prep took over a week. The prompt was to present on a community program and its distribution channels for customer advocacy. But after presenting, they asked about specific SMB challenges, which wasn't mentioned before. They didn't hire for the position and changed the title and job description after my final interview, showing they are unclear on their needs and goals. I have over a decade of experience in community engagement, including leadership roles at enterprise-level companies in the restaurant industry, and a law degree. This role seemed like a perfect match for what they said they were looking for. It was a waste of time to prepare and present, then wait almost two weeks for a response. Slice doesn't respect candidate time, and their search for expertise is undermined by bias and lack of clarity. It's unfortunate because the app is a cool concept supporting local restaurateurs.

It was a 4 stage interview process. The first round was with Connor who talked about the role on a high level and gave an overview of the company. The second interview was with Robin, who asked about my experience and the types of technologies and stakeholders I've worked with. Robin also shared more details about the role. The third interview was with Michaela and Gjoko, where I was asked competency-based questions. Gjoko also shared insights into the developers' role and how they support the business. The final interview was with Jason, who gave a good overview of how Slice started and has grown. Jason also discussed Slice's commitment to employee development and a healthy work-life culture.
