Product Manager
Started with a recruiter call to see if I was a good fit for the job and company. They asked general questions, but also really technical ones, which was weird because the recruiter wasn't in Product.
- Tell me about how you acknowledge team accomplishments.
Product Manager
The whole thing felt messy and not really planned out. I first chatted with the recruiter, then had a call with the hiring manager. That call was mostly surface-level stuff, not much about product strategy or if I'd fit in, and it felt super rushed. The main event was a case study presentation. They gave me a kinda vague problem with hardly any background and very little time to get ready. They didn't really say what they were looking for, and I got basically no feedback. In the last round, I talked to some team members, but it was a really generic chat, felt like they were just ticking a box instead of trying to see how I actually work. What really bugged me was the lack of updates and transparency. I had to keep asking for info, and even then, they just sent a quick rejection with no helpful comments.
- Can you walk me through a product you've taken from idea to launch?
- Describe your collaboration process with engineering and design teams.
- How do you approach prioritization when faced with incomplete data?
Product Manager
This interview process took 4 months from the initial contact. It's a long process, so patience is key if you're not looking for an immediate change. All interviews were relevant, and the interviewers were encouraging. There were 9 rounds of discussion plus 2 assignments, including video conferencing and an onsite interview in Edinburgh. Each interviewer assessed different skills: generic PM knowledge, problem-solving, presentation with a pre-assigned problem, depth of experience, and growth sensibilities. Culture fit is heavily emphasized, and they might reject candidates with strong technical skills but a poor cultural fit. They treat candidates respectfully throughout. The main drawback was the long gaps between interview rounds and the overall process duration, which could be improved. Despite this, I liked the company and would apply again if a suitable opportunity arises.
- Can you share an instance of a Viral Marketing strategy you implemented and discuss its outcome?
