First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Skullcandy.
Developer
I went through three rounds of interviews. The questions themselves weren't too hard, covering technical stuff, my work history, why I'm interested in Skullcandy, and team dynamics. But the whole experience was really unprofessional and rude. One interviewer didn't even show up, and another joined the Zoom call 40 minutes late. They then invited other guys to gawk at me on their screen, which was super awkward since only two other people on the call were people I'd already spoken to. They ended up changing the role for another candidate they preferred, which is whatever, but they didn't tell me until I'd followed up three times over a month. HR kept saying I'd hear back in a few days. In the end, I got a generic rejection email with no explanation, even though the hiring manager said I was a top candidate. Honestly, it was one of the worst interview experiences I've ever had.
- What's your motivation for wanting to join Skullcandy?
Supply Planner
It was a pretty chill interview process. I talked about my experience and it seemed like everyone was trying to sell me on the job. They offered me the job over the phone for $65k and I said yes. The next day, HR called back saying they talked to finance and had to lower the offer to $55k, so I declined. It was a waste of time. How does a company not have their salary approved before offering it? I figured the company wasn't run well and found something better.

Marketing Coordinator
My friend who works there got my resume to the hiring manager, which seems to be the only way in. Then I got an email for a 1:1 interview. They asked about my online marketing experience, and were really specific about the company sizes I'd worked at and my responsibilities. A week later, I had a group interview with 4 other people and the first interviewer. They asked a lot of situational questions about what I'd do in the role and how I'd react in certain scenarios. They mentioned it's a fast-paced environment and that people are expected to work a lot, both at work and from home. I got an email about two weeks later saying I didn't get the job.
- What was your previous employer's website daily traffic volume and its sources?
Product Line Associate
The people I talked to for all 4 interviews were really great and professional. Getting from one interview to the next was fast and clear. The interviews themselves weren't super tough, just asked pretty normal questions. My main thought was that it seemed like too many interviews for not getting an offer in the end. I feel like they could have done it in just 2 interviews.
