Research Manager
A recruiter reached out to me first. Then I had a chat with the hiring manager. After that, I was given a case study to complete. They really focused on getting to know me and how I do research.
- Can you tell me about your past experience?
- What's your research philosophy?
- How do you handle stakeholder management?
Research Manager
The recruitment process was quite unprofessional. I was first contacted months ago, sent my CV, and then heard nothing. I was contacted again recently. The recruiter seemed only vaguely familiar with research work and the specific position. I was told I'd be contacted again and needed to resend my CV. I sent it and waited two weeks. When I followed up, the recruiter initially didn't recall our previous conversation. They then suggested I check the grammar on my CV. After I reminded them of our prior discussion, they promised feedback soon and again mentioned my grammar. I have a decade of experience in this field, so receiving grammar advice for a research role felt inappropriate. Shortly after, I was informed the position was filled and that they had found many better candidates. I felt compelled to share this experience to warn others about this recruiter.
- What are some usual things you can tell me?
Research Manager
I had a phone chat with HR, then a skype interview with a director. After that, there was an in person meeting where I gave a presentation, and then a final skype case study. Everyone was really nice and easy to talk to. They talked about the role, responsibilities, and really emphasized the company culture which seems supportive, collaborative, and energetic.
- Can you prepare and deliver a presentation detailing your career journey, key accomplishments, and the specific value you can contribute to SKIM?
