It was very writing dependent. They asked a few standard interview questions like "describe a time you faced and overcame a challenge." But besides that, it was mostly asking questions about writing processes, writing resume, and communications style. As well as questions about what interests you about the work that SKDK does.

The first step was a phone interview with a very friendly recruiter. The conversation flowed easily, and I was asked to provide specific examples. I would consider interviewing here again for a different, more senior position.

So I had a phone interview first, which was pretty standard—talked about my background, skills, and why I wanted this role. Then there were video interviews where I met with different people from various levels in the company. They really wanted to know what I knew about public affairs, but also how I tackled problems and if I'd fit in with their team and culture. A case assignment came after one of the interviews, which was tough but fun, kind of a puzzle to see how I'd handle real situations with my analytical skills. After that, they went silent for weeks before a super short rejection email. Kinda unprofessional.

I did a phone interview first, and then about a week later, they asked me to come to their D.C. office for an in-person interview. I interviewed with three people who were all really nice and welcoming. They shared a lot of specific details about the job, which I thought was a good sign. They seemed to really like me and were interested in hiring me, but I never heard back from them. I sent a few follow-up emails and called their office, but I never got a reply. It's frustrating because if someone travels out of state for an interview, the least a company can do is let them know if they got the job or not. Overall, the experience felt very unprofessional, and I wouldn't want to work for a company that lacks basic courtesy towards potential employees.
