First, you gotta get your resume seen by the right folks. After that, I had a good phone interview that lasted about an hour. It went well, so then I had an in-person interview that was a little over an hour. I waited about two months for the offer. I guess placement can be tough in this industry, which is probably why it took a bit. But they do seem to really care about placing their current employees well, which is cool for them but maybe makes it harder for outsiders to get a specific job or into a particular office.

I went through 3 rounds for the Project Engineer job at Skanska. First, a 30-minute phone call that was mostly behavioral. Then, a 3-hour onsite interview at their office. I met with two people in the role already for a casual chat and to ask them questions. Then, another group interviewed me, asking resume-based questions that weren't too tough. Finally, VPs interviewed me to get to know me better, and HR talked about Skanska and career paths. It was long but comfortable. The next day, I had to schedule a site visit, which was the last part. At the site, three project workers asked similar questions but were unenthusiastic and unpleasant, a totally different vibe. I didn't get the job because they said I lacked 'passion' for construction, and that last interview really killed any passion I had. So, show enthusiasm if you're into construction!

After submitting an online application, I completed a psychometric test, followed by a phone interview and a brief informal chat. The assessment centre involved five candidates. For my part, I had an interview with two people, gave a presentation to three, and participated in a group exercise with about ten interviewers. The company was great throughout, and I heard back with an offer the very next day.
