First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Singapore Economic Development Board.
Management Associate
So after the first assessment round, we had a group interview, and then an individual interview. For the group one, we were given a case study question and had a few minutes to discuss it as a group and figure out how to present it. Then they asked us some follow-up questions. For the individual interview, I had to present a case study I had prepared earlier, and they asked me questions about it.
- What motivates your interest in joining us?
Management Associate
Started with impress.ai forms, which was a long but necessary application step. After that, there was an online assessment focusing on economic knowledge, where justification seemed more important than right/wrong answers. The next stage was the most intensive: an individual written assessment (45 mins), followed by a group business case discussion and presentation to a panel (1 hour 30 mins), and finally a group dialogue with panelists (20 mins). The whole thing took about 4 hours. I felt it was a bit crowded with too many people, making it hard to really stand out.
- Discuss and present a group business case to a panel, followed by a Q&A session.
Manager
The interview process included 4 rounds. Round 0 was a resumé screen with HR over the phone. Round 1 was with superiors who will be your direct bosses, including a standard psychometric assessment and an industry-specific written assignment (to be done within 24 hours). Questions focused on your existing work experiences and motivations for joining EDB. Round 2 was with senior management, plus an industry-specific presentation (also to be completed within 24 hours). This round assessed awareness of current affairs, business acumen, and technical knowledge. Round 3 was with senior management, focusing on culture fit and curveball questions. There was some overlap in questions across rounds, but the focuses were different. After Round 2, HR arranged a phone/video call with a referral for additional screening (no written recommendation letter needed). HR also attended all interview rounds.
- What motivates you to join EDB and this specific role?
- What led to your departure from your last position?
- Can you provide examples of how you collaborate effectively with colleagues?
